Built in and around a former mineral quarry, this is easily one of the most dramatic inland golf courses in all of Southern California. No ocean views necessary, just amazing, wonderfully engineered golf holes routed over hills and ridges and soaring, sawed-off land formations, with vistas of the nearby San Gabriel mountains at every turn. Every hole is named for a type of rock once mined from the quarry, and several are "signature" material, but it's No. 14, "Spinel Slide," that takes the prize — a more amazing, thrilling par 3 has yet to be built West of the Rockies. The course is convenient to the 60 and I-10 freeways, and Ontario Airport is 10 minutes away.
