But it's Hurdzan's ingenious, environmentally friendly Firecliff that garners the wows for now, for good reason. Its collection of wildflower-framed par 3s alone are worth the greens fee, and since the course is carved out below grade, it renders the illusion that you're in your own private Shangri-La of drives, pitches and putts. Great water holes, stunning mountain views, eat-off-the-fairway conditioning — plus a clubhouse and service-savvy staff that would fit right in at most private clubs — makes Desert Willow a pure delight.
