Recent renovations have made this windswept, gorgeous seaside links about an hour north of San Francisco even better, and that's saying something. Trent Jones put some of his best instincts into action here, especially on the homestretch, where the links swoop toward the crashing surf in dramatic fashion. No. 16 is one of the prettiest short par 4s on the California coast, while 18 is a rousing downhill finisher. There's plenty to savor on earlier holes, too — tumbling, hilly par 5s, back-to-back par 3s at holes 6 and 7 — and an overall spiffed-up look and feel thanks to reworked bunkering and new turf on the greens. In sun, fog or wind, it's a year-round Bay area favorite.
